'Sunny' Episode 5: Is Sunny kidnapped? Robot's disappearance causes panic
Contains spoilers for 'Sunny' Episode 5
KYOTO, JAPAN: 'Sunny' Episode 5, released on July 31, 2024, slows down the pace of the mystery as Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones), Sunny (Joanna Sotomura), and Mixxy (annie the clumsy) wander in the jungle trying to find Mixxy's farmhouse after they abscond Kyoto.
You'll have to wait till the end to see a major development that serves as a cliffhanger for the next episode.
What happens to the robot in 'Sunny' Episode 5?
In 'Sunny' Episode 5, the robot has a sudden flashback of Masa Sakamoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima). It recalls being packed in a zipped bag until Masa opens it in panic. There's another person with him and they talk about protecting the robot as things seem to have gone extremely terrible.
Later at night, Sunny opens up about his memory to Suzie, adding that there are more, which it will try to recall.
The next day, when Suzie wakes up, she finds Sunny is missing. She runs around in panic but fails to locate him. This is quite unusual as Sunny would always be near Suzie, probably ready with breakfast every day she woke up.
Suzie then finds a note written in Japanese with a fake finger beneath Sunny's pillow, hinting that Sunny has indeed gone missing.
Where is Sunny in Apple TV+'s 'Sunny' Episode 5?
The episode does reveal the whereabouts of Sunny. However, viewers have received enough hints to speculate what happened to him.
The fake finger belongs to Hime (YOU), as we saw her wearing one in an earlier episode. Since Episode 1, she has assigned her men to stalk Suzie. It's safe to assume that she was able to track her down despite her attempt at going MIA.
Hime, is a female gangster, and she probably wants something crucial from Suzie, that belonged to Masa. She might now use Sunny as leverage to get what she wants.
In 'Sunny' Episode 6, Suzie will officially meet Hime and her gang. This meeting will give us some clarity about the lingering mystery.
'Sunny' Episodes 1 to 5 are available to stream on Apple TV+
