'Sunny' Episode 5: Is Mixxy hiding something? Fan theory matches Sunny's concerns

KYOTO, JAPAN: With five episodes already out, Apple TV+'s 'Sunny' has managed to keep the viewers hooked to its suspense-filled plot revolving around robots and the crime world of dystopian Japan.
Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones) is shattered by the disappearance and alleged death of her husband and son in a plane crash. Her husband's company compensates her with a robot named Sunny. Together, Sunny and Suzie embark on a mission to discover the secrets of her husband, Masa Sakamoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima).
They are joined by Mixxy (annie the clumsy), a young bartender from the restaurant Suzie and Masa would often visit before the tragedy. As Mixxy and Suzie suddenly develop a bond, Sunny is suspicious.
Sunny doesn't trust Mixxy in Apple TV+'s 'Sunny'
Ever since Sunny has met Mixxy, it has been suspicious of her. We get to see a savage side of the robot every time Mixxy tries to guide Suzie.
In 'Sunny' Episode 5, the robot even confesses to Suzie about being doubtful of Mixxy's intentions. "There's something off about her," it says.
Sunny is extra attentive when Mixxy is around but can't do much about her as Suzie seems comfortable in her company.
Sunny's suspicion grows when Mixxy secretly asks Sunny to keep the bird despite Suzie's objection. However, when Suzie sees the bird later, Mixxy acts defensive and says that she never asked Sunny to keep it.
This hints that Mixxy is probably onto some manipulation game and has been enlisted by someone to keep an eye on Suzie. This would only justify why Mixxy drops everything and accompanies Suzie on her escapade.
Fans on Reddit agree with Sunny's suspicion
Mixxy seems too good to be true. Her excessive niceness in today's world raises suspicions among viewers, who can't help but wonder if there's a twist in her friendship waiting to be revealed.
A fan of the show took to Reddit and wrote, "Does anyone else feel suspicious of Mixxy? I feel like Mixxy is there as a sleeper agent to distract Suzie/keep tabs on her by Masa or the Yakuza folk."
Agreeing to this theory, another fan wrote, "100%. And she works at the restaurant Masa and Susie frequented and has just been pushy in general. I’m totally on this wave length."
Someone added that she might have been sent by Masa to help Suzie through her adventures. The comment reads, "I think she is as well, but probably for Masa, we've seen the Yakuza have their people in place elsewhere. Her having access to the Black Book, or whatever it's called, seems quite rare as well."
The creators of the show haven't delved into Mixxy's backstory yet. So, as of Episode 5, she remains a mysterious character with her true agenda yet to be unraveled in further episodes.
