'Sunny' Episode 4: Did Masa Sakamoto kill someone? Cliffhanger opens scope for bizarre speculation
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'Sunny'
KYOTO, JAPAN: 'Sunny' Episode 4 drops several truth bombs, and they aren't going to make Suzie Sakamoto's (Rashida Jones) life any easier.
She is initially shocked to discover that her husband's father isn’t dead. A few minutes into the episodes, we discover yet another shocking detail.
Apparently, Noriko Sakamoto (Judy Ongg) had an affair with a man named Hiromasa Matsumoto and Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) is their child.
Parallelly, Suzie also speculates that Masa and his real father were part of a criminal gang and we have reasons to believe that she may be right.
'Sunny' Episode 4 unravels Masa Sakamoto's evil side
'Sunny' Episode 4 opens with a flashback scene of Masa dropping his son to school. The adorable scene takes a twist when he spots a man and chases him down.
As he finally nabs him, he holds him at gunpoint. The scene cuts and we are left wondering what transpired between both.
Masa then pays a visit to Hime (YOU), a gangster lady, and hands over a wristwatch while acknowledging that he has the cash too.
The unattended mystery leaves us speculating that Masa either abducted or killed the man for reasons yet to be revealed.
Was Masa Sakamoto a gangster in Apple TV+'s 'Sunny'?
Suzie Sakamoto always believed that her husband, Masa worked on refrigerators in an electronic company called Imatech. It is only after his disappearance and apparent death in a plane crash that she learns about his secret life.
She not only finds out that he lied about his occupation but also embarks on a journey to learn about the dark world he was embroiled in.
Masa was a roboticist who built Sunny. There is already an ongoing mystery about Dark Manual, which was probably designed by Masa. This dark manual could manipulate the default code of robots to turn them into killing monsters.
While we earlier believed that Masa was a good man, recent discoveries have begun to change our perception.
The way he ran after a man in Episode 4 and pointed a gun at him makes us believe that he was no amateur in the gangster world. He was also quite comfortable in Hime's presence, further suggesting his role in the criminal world.
Moreover, a scene from a previous episode further boosts this theory where a person was killed in Division 5 of Imatech, where Masa was also present. Could this dead man be the one Masa was chasing? We hope to get further clarity in Episode 5.
Four episodes of 'Sunny' are now streaming on Apple TV+.
