Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp comes out as gay after being in closet for 18 yrs, fans say 'proud of you'

'Stranger Things' star Noah Schnapp who plays Will Byers has made a huge announcement via his TikTok and the Internet is raging over it. While wearing a gray hoodie and laying on a white pillow, the 18-year-old star came out as gay and compared his real life to his reel life. His character, after a slow arc-building, is also found to be in love with his friend Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard. 

Noah wrote in the video, "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know'." He captions the video, "I guess I'm more similar to Will Byers than I thought!" In the video he can be heard voicing over a woman's commentary that goes, "You know it never was that serious, it was never that serious, quite frankly we will never be that serious." Noah seems to be living awfully similar to his reel life as his character in 'Stranger Things', Will Byers is also gay and in love with his best friend Mike Wheeler.

Talking about the same, Noah tells Variety, "I mean, it’s pretty clear this season that Will has feelings for Mike. They’ve been intentionally pulling that out over the past few seasons." He continues,  "Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1: It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he's gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it's 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc."

One user referred to a scene from 'Stranger Things' and the accuracy and said, "Noah schnapp being gay makes so much sense because a straight person would never have been able to film this scene as well as he did." Another user wrote, "I'm pretty neutral on noah schnapp like i don't love him or hate him but i am SO happy that a gay person is playing a canon gay character in one of the biggest tv shows in the world like this a textbook definition of representation of queers in media." One more user wrote, "Truly i could not be more happy that noah schnapp plays will byers. having a queer teenager represented and advocated for by a queer actor feels incredible."

One user wrote, "Noah schnapp coming out on tiktok using an unserious audio with a funny unironic caption is such a gen z thing to do i love him DEARLY." Another user pointed out the actor's way of coming out and tweeted, "Noah schnapp did not just randomly come out as gay using this caption HES SO UNSERIOUS (i am v happy for him u guys BETTER be nice to him)" One more user said, "Noah schnapp just came out on tiktok, that was not on my 2023 bingo but i'm so proud of him"
