'Stranger Things' Season 5 Vol. 2 trailer: Steve Harrington's survival in focus as Hawkins heroes face Vecna's wrath
It's Vecna's turn to deliver the blows. The trailer for 'Stranger Things' Season 5 Vol. 2 just landed, and it may have hinted at the end of the road for one of the show's favorite characters. Joe Keery's alarming, "You die, I die," to Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) in the new clip will surely send the show's faithful into a tizzy.
The new trailer promises high-octane action with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) teaming up with Kali (Linnea Berthelsen). There's more of Will's (Noah Schnapp) powers, as well as Max's (Sadie Sink) plans to get out of Vecna's prison. The clip also shows Vecna battling his demons while also terrorizing Hawkins. The latest footage comes 10 days before the premiere of volume 2. Vol. 1 ended with Will unleashing his inner powers by channeling Vecna. The three-episode instalment ended with no major characters dying. However, not all may make it out alive in the second run.
Earlier, Ross Duffer teased what was in store in Vol. 2. The co-creator took to Instagram Thursday to preview the three new chapters releasing on Christmas Day, revealing the titles for each incoming episode and their respective directors.
"'Shock Jock' picks up moments after the end of 'Sorcerer,'" Ross wrote of episode 5. "Frank Darabont is back, but he flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on 'Turnbow Trap' — it's far darker, and far scarier." This was followed by Episode 6, titled 'Escape From Camazotz', directed by Shawn Levy. "It's the biggest episode of the three — and the performances make us cry every time we watch it," he said. "'The Bridge...' we co-directed this one with Shawn. Don't want to say too much, but aside from the finale, it's probably the most emotional chapter of the season," Ross remarked.
The official synopsis reads, “Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,” the official synopsis reads. “But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding."
"As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time."
'Stranger Things' season 5, Volume 2 will premiere episodes 5-7 on Netflix beginning Christmas Day at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
