'Strange that it happened twice': Internet slams Grammys 2024 as Billie Eilish beats Lana Del Rey again
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer and songwriter Billie Eilish, won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for her song 'What Was I Made For?' which appeared in the film 'Barbie'. Fans, on the other hand, were devastated because they believed Lana Del Rey and her 'A&W' were robbed of the opportunity.
The 66th Grammy Awards are being hosted at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The 22-year-old collected the award alongside Finneas O'Connell. She also won Best Song Written for Visual Media.
In the Song of the Year category, Eilish beat Taylor Swift, Lana, SZA, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, and others. Lana fans took to X to slam the Grammys as they shared their disappointment.
One X user wrote, "Lana losing to billie eilish ONCE AGAIN I WILL KMS." Another user chimed in, "YALL KNOW A&W DESERVED THAT BILLIE CONTINUES TO STEAL FROM LANA I CANT DO IT."

Billie Eilish feels ‘crazy’ while winning Song of the Year at 2024 Grammys
Billie took up the Song of the Year award for 'What Was I Made For?' at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday. Not everyone was startled, but Billie surely was.
"Yikes, damn, that's stupid, guys," the 22-year-old singer said, looking at the crowd through gold-rimmed spectacles.
"Whoa, literally like I was looking at everybody’s faces, and I was like, ‘Yo, I just want to say everybody in this category, like, down was a crazy list of incredible people, incredible artists, and I feel crazy right now," she went on to remark.
After getting over the shock of earning yet another Song of the Year Grammy, Billie expressed her thanks to the director of 'Barbie', saying, "Thank you to Greta Gerwig for making the best movie of the year."
Billie Eilish won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammys 2024
Billie penned the song for the all-star 'Barbie' soundtrack with her brother Finneas. Earlier in the night, the song won the duo a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, and they even performed an emotional performance of the ballad on the Grammy stage.
The song garnered five Grammy nominations and ranked ninth on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Songs of 2023. During a Hollywood Reporter discussion with other artists, Billie disclosed that the song's creation was preceded by a case of writer's block.
"I honestly was concerned that it was over for me," added Billie, who later directed the single's one-take music video.
“We’d been trying, and it wasn’t doing what it usually would do in me. I was honestly like, ‘Damn, maybe I hit my peak and I don’t know how to write anymore?’” said the singer.
