LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Renowned actor Jon Voight has ignited controversy with his recent comments opposing his daughter Angelina Jolie's views on the Israel-Gaza conflict, as per Daily Mail.

While Voight expressed strong support for Israel's actions, the internet's reaction has been largely critical, with many questioning his approach.

Jon Voight's critical response to Angelina Jolie's stance on Israel-Hamas war

Voight, aged 84, did not mince words when addressing his daughter's viewpoint. He expressed his disappointment, stating, "I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God's honor, God's truths."

Voight further emphasized that the Israeli army's primary duty is to protect its homeland.

Jolie, a former special envoy of the UN High Commission for Refugees, had condemned Israel's response to the October 7 Hamas terror attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 1,400 people, predominantly civilians.

She accused Israel of deliberately targeting children, women, families, and withholding humanitarian aid, thus violating international law.

Voight, in response, argued that his daughter fails to grasp the true objectives of Hamas, emphasizing that their goal is to eliminate the Jewish homeland. He asserted, "The Israeli army must protect this soil," and underscored the importance of preserving the history of the Holy Land and the land of the Jews.

He went on to stress that Israel was the victim of "inhuman terror" aimed at innocent civilians, and he criticized those who placed blame on Israel.

Internet reacts to Jon Voight's critique of Angelina Jolie

Voight's outspoken critique has sparked a wave of criticism on the internet, with a significant majority rejecting his views.

One user commented, "I love Jon Voight as an actor; he needs to stick to acting." Another individual offered an alternative perspective, stating, "No offense, but the last thing we need here is Old Testament logic/rationalization."

Voight's approach also came under scrutiny, with a third user questioning why he chose to address his daughter's opinions on social media rather than in a more private father-daughter setting.

Another individual labeled his video message as an attention-seeking ploy and termed it "pathetic."

A fifth user succinctly sided with Jolie, stating, "Sorry, but Angelina Jolie is correct."

Jon Voight's prior commentary on Israel

Voight, celebrated for his acting career, won an Academy Award in 1978 for his role in 'Coming Home' and received multiple nominations throughout his career. He is, however, better known in recent years for his alignment with right-wing politics, having transitioned from his earlier liberal views.

Notably, this is not the first time Voight has criticized Hollywood celebrities for their opinions on Israel. In 2014, he branded Spanish film stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem as "ignorant" after they condemned Israel's military actions in the Gaza Strip.

The Israel-Gaza conflict continues to escalate, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defying calls for a ceasefire by Pope Francis and leaders in the Middle East. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continue their campaign against Gaza, resulting in widespread destruction.

Fires have engulfed buildings in Gaza, with Netanyahu asserting that the war would only end when Hamas was completely eradicated, emphasizing the importance of the return of hostages as a condition for a ceasefire.
