Steven Spielberg's adopted daughter Mikaela Spielberg, 23, was arrested on February 29 in Nashville, Tenn, on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence days after coming out to confirm that she was seeking to carve out a career in the adult entertainment industry as a porn star.

Following her arrest, she was taken to the Hill Detention Center where she was placed on a 12-hour hold in the jail, where an individual posted a $1,000 bond on her behalf. She is expected to show up at the court for the next hearing on March 9.

Meanwhile, Chuck Pankow, her fiance, confirmed the news of her arrest and said that the incident was a case of 'misunderstanding'. "No one is hurt," he said in a statement issued to Fox News.

Last month, the 23-year-old explained to The Sun her decision to carve out a career in the adult entertainment industry as a porn star and said that she had informed her interest to her parents who were supportive of her decision rather than being upset about it. "I just launched my self-produced adult entertainment career. Safe, sane, consensual is the goal y'all," she had said.

"I got really tired of not being able to capitalize on my body and frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body.  I also just got tired of working day-to-day in a way that wasn't satisfying my soul," she had said. "I feel like doing this kind of work, I'm able to 'satisfy' other people, but that feels good because it's not in a way that makes me feel violated," she had elaborated.

Mikaela hinted that from her career move she hoped that she would become financially independent and would not have to seek help from her parents for finances.

"I've always been a very sexually natured person, which has gotten me in trouble before. Not in a predatory way, but just in the sense that people here in the south might not yet be comfortable with that," she had said. "My main hope is just that I get somewhere lucrative enough to where I'm not tied down financially by things. And then I can really start saying to people there's nothing wrong with me using my body in a way that feels comfortable to support myself."

"I can't stay dependent on my parents or even the state for that matter - not that there's anything wrong with that - it just doesn't feel comfortable for me. This isn't like an 'end of the road' or 'I've hit bottom' choice. This is a positive, empowering choice, I realized there is no shame in having a fascination with this industry and wanting to do something that is safe, sane, consensual."
