Steve Burton has officially filed for divorce from his wife Sheree Gustin after 23 years of marriage. The news comes two months after Burton announced his separation from Sheree via an Instagram story that shared a private detail. The story in May revealed that Sheree, mother of three, was having a fourth child which wasn't Burton's. It belonged to another man who was not named. He also said that they had all the intentions of co-parenting their "three beautiful kids," and asked for privacy at the time.
The Instagram story from early May posted on Burton's account read, "I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv (sic), Steve." The reason for the split was visible to the naked eye, which was Sheree's fourth child. According to the documents obtained by TMZ, the 'General Hospital' star listed March 1 as the day of separation, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason to keep things ambiguous. They have been married since 1999 and share three children.
