'Stargirl' lead Brec Bassinger, who plays the titular character, has not had a good first day back to work, receiving a black eye after her car was rear-ended. Fortunately, her co-star Jake Austin Walker was there to help save the day.

Not only was she rear-ended by another car, giving a black eye in the process, but when her boyfriend, Dylan Summerall, came to pick her up, his car battery died. The pair were stranded for over two hours before her co-star, Jake Austin Walker, who plays Henry King Jr aka Brainwave Jr, came to help out. Even then, Walker's jumper cables were just a little short, and the actor had to go find longer ones until a highway worker came by to help everyone out.

"Story time - This morning I woke up to go to my first day of work in almost a year. I was so excited and was running 30 minutes early. BOOM. I got rear-ended. My sweet Dylan came to pick me up. While we waited for the police report and my car to be towed... When we to drive away, Dylan’s car battery died," wrote Bassinger, on her Instagram post. "We were then stranded on the side of the 101 for almost two hours and KING @jakeaustinwalker came to save the day. Oh sad day, the jumper cables were too short and him being the king that he is went to go find longer ones until a lovely highway worker stopped and jumped dyl’s car for free and I was only four hours late to work."

She called the experience an "awakening" one, saying, "Moral of the story, please PLEASE be mindful when you drive, tell everyone you love them- even at the end of an argument, don’t take a single second of life for granted," and, to reassure her fans that she was not too heavily injured, adds, "...and Brec rocks a black eye." She shares a picture of the same, and says no one involved was seriously hurt.

When Brec's mother heard the news, she immediately asked for her daughter to send a selfie and the actress shared the message thread in her Instagram story. Brec's mother replied to the post, writing, "You really do rock the black eye," and the actress replied to the post, "We love a supportive mom."

While Brec did not specify what "work" she is going back to, it's possible that she is returning to shoot for Season 2 of 'Stargirl,' which has already been renewed for a second season before the first one is over. If Stargirl starts out the next season with a black eye, we'll know that, for once, a supervillain was not responsible.

Brec appears next on-screen as Stargirl/Courtney Whitmore in part one of the two-part finale, 'Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E.'. The episode airs on Monday, August 3, on DC Universe, and Tuesday, August 4 on The CW.
