He added, "Our freedom was paid for by brave men and women who died for something other than themselves and bigger than themselves. It is rooted in mission, love, and country, which is people. Which sounds like Jesus's story as well."
'Story of Jesus resonates because it's about sacrifice'
Memorial Day is an opportunity for solemn remembering of those who have served our nation. Robertson recently discussed the importance of faith in his life during an interview with Fox News Digital. He claimed that "the story of Jesus resonates" with so many people because "at its core it's about sacrifice."
Since they first appeared on the reality series "Duck Dynasty" on A&E, Robertson and his wife Korie have been vocal about their strong Christian religion. They have also instilled their convictions in their six children, John Luke, Rebecca, Bella, Rowdy, Willie, and Sadie Robertson. The two recently finished filming "The Blind," a story about Willie Robertson's father Phil Robertson's search for Jesus and subsequent decision to live a life of faith. This, in Willie's opinion, was the turning point in his life.
'Without faith, my parents would have divorced'
He shared, "You realize, 'Wow, we're so impacted by our faith … because that could have went either way,' And had my parents not chosen faith, they would have divorced for sure. I would have grown up in a completely different situation." Willie told Korie, "There would have been no Duck Commander, which would have meant no 'Duck Dynasty,' and I probably wouldn't have met you."

Robertson was born to Phil and Marsha Kay Robertson at Tri-Ward General Hospital in Bernice, Louisiana, in the Union Parish. Two days before his father's 26th birthday, he was born.
