Ron Perlman schools Matt Gaetz in Twitter feud over taking the knee, SoA star hailed as 'national treasure'
Matt Gaetz, member of the Republican Party of Florida, and 'Sons of Anarchy' actor Ron Perlman's virtual brawl has garnered a lot of attention. Yet, neither of them is letting go of a chance to criticize the other over their contrasting opinions about the US soccer team protesting police brutality and racial inequality by kneeling during the national anthem.
It all started with a tweet by Gaetz saying he would rather not have a soccer team for the US if the players refuse to stand when the national anthem is being played. He said, "You shouldn’t get to play under our flag as our national team if you won’t stand when it is raised." In response to this tweet, Perlman tweeted, "The US Soccer team called and you guessed it... said they couldn’t give any less of a f--k about what you two dips--ts think," also tagging President Donald Trump.
However, it didn’t stop with the exchange of just two scathing comments as they went on to point each other’s professional integrity. Referring to Perlman’s role in ‘Sons of Anarchy’, Gaetz wrote, "This racial justice warrior had no problem in Hollywood portraying the White Supremacist leader of a motorcycle gang. #SOA." To this the actor replied, "So So rewarding playing a--h---s on tv" and asked Gaetz, "Tell me sir, how is it actually being one?" Just when we thought it couldn't get uglier, the politician shared yet another tweet that has grasped the attention of the internet.
He tweeted, "You wouldn’t be tweeting about me if my message weren’t true & effective," Gaetz wrote. "Threatens your wokeness. How triggered will you be when @realDonaldTrump is re-elected? More or less than when crooked lost?" The two have continued trading barbs following the above tweet. While Perlman has accused the politician of winning elections with "daddy’s money", Gaetz has asked the actor to get his facts right.
However, the majority of Twitter users are of the opinion that Perlman is "way smarter" than Gaetz and have asked the latter to "give up already". While one tweet read, "Ron Perlman is a National Treasure and Matt Gaetz is a tool." Another added, "Matt Gaetz is trying to win a Twitter beef with Ron Perlman and Perlman is crushing it. It's hilarious. Sometimes the universe is kind." Meanwhile, a few have said Perlman doesn’t have any valid points to make. One Twitter user wrote, "Funny thing — I haven't seen you make an intelligent comment about anything substantive yet. Quite a school you're running there."
