Sofia Vergara sued for not paying contractors $1.7M for her $26 million Beverly Hills mansion renovation
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Sofia Vergara is facing a lawsuit from her former contractors who claim they are owed $1.7 million by the actress for work done on her $26 million Beverly Hills mansion.
Reside Custom Homes (RCH) alleges they were hired by Vergara in April 2022 to do construction work on her lavish home in the Beverly Park neighborhood, but were never paid despite her agreeing to pay for the project and additional contractor’s fee.
Sofia Vergara allegedly approved an invoice but never paid the bill
The company says they initially fronted the cost of the additional work, which included removing and replacing a flight of stairs, and were promised by Vergara that she would follow through on paying for the improvements.
Vergara allegedly approved an invoice but never paid the bill as after the completion was done, Vergara asked for "significant extra work beyond the scope of the agreement, which ended up extending the job until March 2023."
The 'Modern Family' actress, 51, had also requested clay plaster installed into three of her powder rooms, an office, the dining room walls, the cabana bathroom, and guest house living room, as per TMZ.
RCH also claims they were informed by the actress that she had approved an invoice for nearly $900,000 and had ‘already’ instructed her money manager to pay them.
RCH says she never actually paid the bill
However, RCH says she never actually paid the bill and now owes them over a million dollars, plus interest and attorney’s fees. The lawsuit was filed on Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ.
Vergara accuses contractors of overcharging, doing substandard work and delaying the project.
Sofia’s attorney, Marty Singer, told TMZ it was actually Sofia who first sent a demand letter to RCH on October 4 claiming the company was responsible for $5 million in damages for overcharging Sofia, doing substandard work and delaying the project.
Sofia Vergara will prevail and receive significant payment
Singer says RCH never disputed the claims, but has now filed a lawsuit of their own. He further said he’s confident Sofia will prevail and receive significant payment.
Sofia had purchased the lavish home in 2020 with her then-husband, True Blood star Joe Manganiello. The Tuscan-style abode, which was built in 1999, has an impressive six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 17,000 square feet of space and two acres of land.
