Sofia Richie was criticized for her 'insensitive' Instagram post about the devastating California wildfires, which continue to rage on.

Richie, 21, seemed to do some damage control on Tuesday and sent love to all those affected by the wildfires. She took her Instagram stories in a now-deleted post to say, "Sending my love and prayers to everyone affected by the fires".

"Tonight's wind is going to be brutal. Please Stay safe," she continued. She had also shared a picture of what looked like her lying in bed with a broken heart emoji as well as a sticker of a girl meditating. On Wednesday morning, the wildfires had broken out in Simi Valley, which is across her home.

Richie's message comes after she shared a picture on Monday evening sporting a messy bun. She had captioned the image, "Santa Ana winds - messy bun". A few of her fans were supportive of the picture and left many comments gushing over it.

However, there were several social media users who found her caption to be 'insensitive' given the Getty fires. One user commented, saying, "200,000 people evacuated and 2 million people without power but okay go ahead flex?? could u be any more insensitive?"

While another added, "Sofia Richie talking about how the Santa Anas are great for her hair might be the most tone-deaf things I've ever seen!!!" Despite the outrage that the picture provoked, Richie did not remove it from her feed.

The fires are still raging with the Santa Ana 'Devil winds', which are moving at 70 mph to hit southern California on Wednesday. The fire reportedly began when a tree branch fell on top of a power line and set fire to a nearby bush, the LA Fire Department revealed.

Three people have lost their lives in the devastating fires in the past week.
