Social media critics mocked Prince Andrew for reaching a settlement with Virginia Giuffre in her sexual abuse lawsuit filed against him in New York. The royal despite not admitting to Giuffre's allegations, agreed to pay her an undisclosed deal worth over $10 million.

Several social media users argued that paying a hefty settlement clearly proves Prince Andrew is guilty. The royal previously claimed that he never met Giuffre and that on the night of the alleged assault, he was at Pizza Express with his daughters. One critic mockingly wrote, "I'm waiting for a statement from Pizza Express" while another user added, "Don't you just love it when YOUR taxes are used to settle other people 'actions'?".

Meanwhile other social media users expressed their thoughts that Prince Andrew is "guilty" using the hashtag #AbolishTheMonarchy. One user wrote, "Innocent man who was desperate to clear his name and claimed he had never met the victim settles in court. Tell me you are guilty without telling me you are guilty. And I take We the taxpayers are paying for this which won’t come cheap" with the hastag #AbolishTheMonarchy. Another user said, "Innocent men don't 'settle'".

One social media critic said, "A country where money and entitlement can buy you freedom from the most serious allegations is not a country to be proud of. A monarchy that endorses and turns a blind eye to this, is nothing to be proud of". Another added, "@PrinceAndrew he doesn't pay, mum doesn't pay, tax payers pay. We pay for the sexual assaults of the prince." Another user commented, "Tell you what I can't stand the most about #PrinceAndrew aside from being a lying nonce it's his fat neck. It Says 'pass the port, more cheese, your royal highness? Entitled cunt."

A document submitted to the court in New York reads, "Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Giuffre's character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks". "He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims", the document concludes. Although the parties have settled, the court document states that the agreement is not an admission of guilt from Andrew and he has always strenuously denied the allegations against him.
