Wesley Snipes gets jail for tax evasion while Trump 'paid just $750 a year', Internet says 'shame on you IRS'
Wesley Snipes had been ordered to spend three years behind bars for failing to pay his federal taxes. Given the recent New York Times report on Sunday, September 27, President Donald Trump's alleged failure to pay income taxes for 10 years has been causing quite the stir as social media compares the treatment towards Snipes vis-à-vis Trump. Trump had coughed up a mere $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency, Newsweek reports.
Many people have been commenting on the consequences that Snipes had to face for avoiding his payments to the IRS for five years. The actor had been convicted of three misdemeanor counts for not filing his federal taxes between the years 1999 and 2004 when he had made around $40 million. He had offered to pay around $842,000 in order to help clear his $23.5 million debt but was handed a three-year prison sentence. He had initially been at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania on December 9, 2010, before he was ultimately transferred to an adjacent, minimum security Club Fed where he stayed until 2013.
It was revealed over the weekend that Trump had paid only $750 in taxes in 2016 and 2017. Within the 15 years before Trump's 2016 campaign, the POTUS had not paid taxes at least 10 of those years as he apparently lost more money than he had actually earned. However, Trump has denied the NY Times' report calling it "fake news". Trump said, "It's totally fake news. Made up. Fake." Many social media users had taken to Twitter to comment on the same. One such user had commented and said, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It is pretty much a given that Trump's kids are committing tax fraud too. Dems have to go after the entire Trump family. They have to all have criminal records by the end of this so they're all ineligible to run for office."

Another social media user added, "Looks like fraud to me. He paid Ivanka under a consulting co. that was attached to another co. then he kept applying for loans lying about what he had & 70k for hair cut come on now."

"Absolutely wild to me that people are here defending the fact that a man that’s supposed to be wealthy didn’t pay his taxes. Trump is supposed to be a billionaire and y’all are ok with him paying little to no taxes. But it’s supposed to be fuck the elite?" wrote another Twitter user.

A user who echoed the same sentiments also chimed in and shared, "So why has the IRS not taken action against Trump in all this time? They've certainly taken action against a lot of famous black people like Wesley Snipes & a few others. They're punishment of people seems select."

Another user quipped: "The IRS should be ashamed of not doing their job for decades and thoroughly investigating Trump the white man while locking black folks up and seizing their assets like Wesley Snipes. Shame on you IRS."
