'So You Think You Can Dance': Eddie Hoyt brings in humor and swagger into his hip-hop routine and aces the Final Cut

This week the stakes were raised higher as each contestant was forced to perform something else other than their respective dance styles and choose a new routine. Here are the Top 5 men who made it to the live shows.

Last week when 'So You Think You Can Dance' aired, we saw the Top 10 women battle it out in the Final Cut- Top Ten Girls' episode. Partnered with an All-Star male, the Top 10 women had to perform a duet choreographed by a professional. Their routine had to be outside their own style. Competing against each other, in order to get one step closer to become America's favorite dancer, only five out of the ten moved on to the live shows.

And back this week for the Final Cut- Top Ten Men episode, the remaining male contestants performed with an All-Star female. The ten men who competed this week were Benjamin Castro, Nathan Cherry, Gino Cosculluela, Eddie Hoyt, Vlad Kvartin, Bailey Munoz, Aleksandr Ostanin, Ezra Sosa, Brandon Talbott and Bryan “Clocks” Volozanin.

Though this Final Cut format reduces the number of performances and also means bidding adieu to half of the contestants, fans and viewers were looking forward to seeing the Top 5 contestants perform.

The Top 5 male performers managed to secure their positions after a lot of hard work which was visible in their respective routines but there was one act with demanded our attention. We'll tell you why.

Tapper, Eddie Hoyt who left a lasting impression with one of the best auditions this season was brought out his comfort zone as he was paired with All-Star Comfort Fedoke for a hip-hop routine. The 19-year-old tap dancer hailing from New Hampshire had auditioned last season where he revealed on stage that he was gay. It was an emotional moment for him back then, however, his journey in the competition was cut short. Back again this year for his audition he performed a tap routine that made the judges so emotional they teared up.

For his routine this week, he took a U-turn and brought in some humor along with his performance. Hoyt's routine was choreographed by Randi and Hef. This was by far the most outstanding we had seen this week easily. It clearly shows he was out of his comfort zone but he gave it his best because even though Hoyt doesn't look like a pro in hip-hop, he sure looked like he was in the zone during his performance and seemed to enjoy it as well.

Performing a hip-hop routine to 'Treadmill' Hoyt brought the roof down along with this partner Comfort Fedoke. His performance had the moves, the twerks, and the swagger. Bringing humor to his performance, the judges especially D-Trix seemed to enjoy it even more. After his performance, D-Trix told Hoyt that his performance was like a "growth spurt" compared to his performance during the Academy Round.

Eddie overall aced his performance compared to the other four dancers who moved to the live shows along with him. It was without a doubt the best performance of Hoyt's till now. Hoyt along with Gino Cosculluela, Benjamin Castro, Benjamin Castro, and Bailey Munoz moved along to the live shows. They join the Top 5 women Mariah Russell, Stephanie Sosa, Anna Linstruth, Sophie Pittman and Madison Jordan.

Next week when SYTYCD returns with the live shows, we will see the Top 10 contestants perform, and from now on the decision is out of the judges' hands and it all depends on the viewers.

'So You Think You Can Dance' season 16 airs every Monday night on Fox. Check your local listings for more information.
