Was Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon involved in the Burning Sun scandal? After the original whistleblower of the case, Kim Sang-kyo, asked her to confess what she knows about the night, the K-pop star has refused any relation to it, a new Korean report has stated.

Was Girls' Generation Hyoyeon involved?

The involvement of Hyoyeon was apparently suggested by an informant of the incident Kim Sang Kyo. He was reportedly beaten up and arrested on a night of November 2018 outside Burning Sun. He also accused the two police offers of being violent against him. After a series of ‘internal investigation’ on the case, Seoul District Magistrate Court concluded that there was not enough evidence against the police officers to consider them guilty.

In the latest edition of this incident, Kim Sang Kyo has returned to the social media platform to allegedly ask SM Entertainment’s SNSD aka Girls’ Generation member to ‘fess up’ on what she knows about the incident. In a post, he asked, “Who was the top actress so high on drugs and drooling, that the police officers weren't even allowed inside the club that night? Hyoyeon, you must have seen who the VVIP customers were that night. And the man who was high on drugs when he beat me inside the club, you must know if he's that druggie who was Seungri's friend.”

He added, “It's about time you fessed up. It won't be long now. It's up to you all, whether or not the identities of the numerous celebrities affiliated with 'Burning Sun' will be revealed against your will, or if you're gonna cooperate."

SM Entertainment refuses Hyoyeon’s involvement

After the allegations were posted on social media, SM Entertainment has shared a statement where they have refused Hyoyeon’s involvement in the incident. According to a Korean media report, SM Entertainment said,  "Hyoyeon only performed after being invited for a DJ performance at the time, and it has nothing to do with the article."

What are fans saying?

After SM Entertainment’s statement surfaced on social media, Girls’ Generation fans have shown their support for the 31-year-old singer, dancer and DJ. A fan posted, “Another day they try to bring down successfull woman, leavee my girlsss alone pleasee!” While another said, “Wait! What??? Hyoyeon is just a DJ. She is DJ HYO. She's one of the queens of SNSD. She's a dance machine. She's talented. She's the pride of the sone. That's enough everyone.” A similar tweet read, “Girlie wasn't even there the day the incident happened, she was there a day before bc of a gig. That mf really thought he could shift the situation to save his ass!”
