Slipknot drummer Shawn Crahan mourns tragic death of his 22-year-old daughter Gabrielle: 'The deepest pain'

Gabrielle's sister Alexandria also took to social media to discourage people from speculating the cause of her death

Slipknot's Shawn Crahan announced the unfortunate and tragic news of his daughter Gabrielle's death who passed away at the young age of 22. Gabrielle is survived by her parents Shawn and Chantel Crahan, her sister Alexandria and brothers Gage and Simon. 

The 49-year-old Shawn, better known by his stage names Clown and #6, took to Instagram to share, "It is with a broken heart, and from a place of the deepest pain, that I have to inform all of you that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away yesterday — Saturday, May 18th, 2019." He also said that "funeral arrangements will be forthcoming" before adding, "My family and I ask that our privacy be respected moving forward." 



 

Her brother Simon also took to social media to express his grief and wrote, "Today is the hardest day ever, I’m confused, I’m angry, I’m sad and I’m just sad just really sad. Gabri I miss you so much I miss you like no other we were best friends we had a good bond and now your not here anymore. I love you Gabri and I know you'll know that forever." Alexandria shared a childhood picture of her and her late sister and wrote, "22 is too young to die". 

"I am in shock and have no idea how to process the wave of emotions I am experiencing. The comforts I have in these moments are my family, friends, and cats. Please put good energy out for my parents and my brothers," she added. She also shared how the loss of her sister's death "leaves the biggest hole and our lives will never be the same." 

She also took to discouraging people from speculating or starting rumors about the cause of Gabrielle's death and posted a screenshot of a Reddit thread where people were discussing the topic.

Slipknot singer Corey Taylor took to Twitter to share his condolences and said, "My heart has broken for my brother. Please keep the Crahan family in your thoughts and love. She will be missed." Slipknot was co-founded by Crahan in 1993 and the band is best known for their songs 'Duality' and 'Snuff'.
