Video shows Camille Vasquez calling Johnny Depp 'abuser' in slip of tongue during trial
A clip of Johnny Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez calling Johnny Depp an "abuser" in court went viral on Twitter but a source close to the lawyer said she did not mean to use that word. According to a source at Newsweek, it is confirmed that Vasquez meant to say "abuse victim."
Vasquez, one of the lawyers representing Johnny in his legal proceedings against ex-wife Amber Heard, garnered a huge fan following and was appreciated for her stance in the courtroom. The mistake happened during Vasquez's closing arguments to the jury in court on May 27, 2022. In the statement, the attorney said, "Amber never thought she would have to face her abuser."

The clip surfaced after more than 6,000 pages of pre-trial documents were unsealed, with legal experts saying that they did not present Johnny in a favorable light. Some of the documents include accusations of photo editing on Johnny's part. The actor had claimed that he suffered from erectile dysfunction, which played a part in him becoming agressive, and claims that the actor tried to use Amber's stint as a stripper against her in court.
Some legal experts, while speaking to Newsweek, believe that fans of Johnny may have unintentionally harmed the actor's reputation by paying to have pre-trial documents unsealed. Seattle-based attorney Kirk Davis said, "If the fans thought unsealing the records was going to significantly help Depp, they were certainly mistaken."
Johnny Depp describes accusations against him as 'cruel and false'
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor had called the accusations 'ridiculous'. The 58-year-old actor said, "It's insane to hear heinous accusations of violence, sexual violence that she's attributed to me, that she's accused me of. I don't think anyone enjoys having to split themselves open and tell the truth but there are times when it just simply has to because it's gotten out of control. Horrible. Ridiculous, humiliating, ludicrous, painful, savage, unimaginably brutal, cruel and all false. And all false."
Meanwhile, Amber Heard’s lawyers are now alleging that a wrong juror was seated in the defamation trial. As per a Deadline report, a 77-year-old individual was called for jury duty but a 52-year-old, who appears to live at the same address as the 77-year-old and also shared "the same surname", showed up at the court. The jury had sided with Johnny and gave the actor $10 million in compensation, as well as $5 million in punitive damages. Later, Judge Penney Azcarate decreased the fine to $350,000, which is the maximum amount permitted by Virginia law.
