The aircraft involved may have been a single-engine, Beechcraft Sierra plane, WHDH reported. The blaze building is on Lower Main Street near the Hope Chapel, about 3,000 feet from the northern end of the runway at Dillant-Hopkins. Around 20 to 30 firefighters were reported at the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Residents say the plane crashed into a storage area, which caught fire next to a small apartment building that shares a parking lot with Hope Chapel. The blaze at the building grew to a three-alarm fire. The blaze could be seen as high as 40ft bellowing in the air. Police blocked off a segment of Main Street between Route 101 and Swanzey Factory Road. Twitter user Mike Saccone posted a video of the fire to Twitter and wrote in his tweet, "NOW: Reported plane into a building in Keene, NH Residents say this is the barn that’s attached to the white apartment building next to Hope Chapel (Credit: LouAnn Lounder Dunham)"

Residents said they were terrified of the ordeal and heard a big noise before they ran for their lives. "It was very scary, I mean, I was sitting in the chair and I heard the big bang and then the house shaking," said Robin Guimond, speaking to WCVB. Another resident, Scott Gauthier, added, "I just grabbed what I needed to grab to be decent, got outside and looked up. The roof was already in. It already spread all over the roof of the back of the house." Authorities are investigating the scene and additional information will be released.
