Missing those Karaoke nights at your favorite club? Here's a show you might want to check out. After the release of the German and Spanish versions, an American edition of 'Sing On!' is about to make its way on Netflix soon. Here's all you should know about it.

Release Date

'Sing On!' will release on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. The season will comprise of eight episodes, all of which will be available to stream only on Netflix.

Plot

This eight-episode series will see six contestants take to the mic to croon the lyrics of the biggest hits from different genres (each episode has its own theme). They will be judged by a vocal analyzer that will compare their performances to that of the original artist. The more in tune contestants are with the song, the more dollars they get to add to the collective jackpot, according to EW.

The official premise of the show reads, "In this fun, fast-paced music contest hosted by Tituss Burgess, players sing their hearts out and try to hit the right notes to win up to $60,000."

Host

Tituss is an American actor and singer known for the portrayal of Titus Andromedon in Netflix's 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards, five times. His recent film credits include, 'I Hate Kids', 'The Addams Family', and 'Dolemite Is My Name.'

Trailer

If anything, the trailer suggests that this is not a regular karaoke night done for fun with fairly easier tunes and lyrics. Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' is a difficult song to sing, the notes go very low and very high at various points, and it's not the appropriate choice to sing at karaoke but the makers are spinning that notion on its head and the contestants will be seen engaging a vocal workout with this and the other songs that will be a part of this show. Each episode will require the contestants to participate in six rounds. At the end of each round, the one with the highest scores moves on and the rest of the group vote a fellow contestant out. The jackpot keeps growing as the contestants put in all their efforts to stick to the tunes and in the final round, the last two contestants that still stand in the competition, go head-to-head in order to win the grand prize.
