SHINee’s Minho and Infinite’s Dongwoo discharged from military, emotional K-pop fans count 'small blessings'

A handwritten message along with a photo of Minho in the military uniform was shared on the official website of SHINee whereas, Dongwoo got a special shout from his group Infinite on Twitter

K-pop stars Minho, whose full name is Choi Min-ho and Dongwoo, whose full name is Jang Dong-woo, have been discharged from their mandatory military service, on Sunday, November 15, as reported by the publication Soompi. Minho is part of the boy band SHINee since 2008 and he was enlisted in the military in April 2019 whereas, Dongwoo is a member of the boy band called Infinite since 2010 and he was enlisted at the exact same time as that of Minho.

According to the publication, Minho was allowed to take his 20-day final leave on October 27, due to Covid-19 protocols but he decided to give it up to help train his junior soldiers at the army base. A handwritten message, along with a photo of him in the military uniform, was shared on the official website of SHINee after he got discharged. “To my SHINee World!! My SHINee World, whom I love!! Salute! I report that sergeant Choi Min Ho has been discharged! This day has come to me as well… It still doesn’t feel real, and I’m excited and happy! Our Shawol who believed in me and waited for me, get ready to run everywhere with Choi Min Ho! I love you.”

Another message was shared in the form of audio note which is transcribed as, “Hello. Salute! This is Sergeant Choi Min Ho. SHINee World, as of November 15, 2020, I have safely completed my military duties. I’m happy, excited, and feeling an emotion I’ve never felt to have safely completed my military service, which can be considered both short and long. More than anything, I’m most happy and excited that the time has come for me to be with all of you again. I’d like to sincerely thank you for cheering me on and waiting for me during my military service. From now on, I’d like to create happy and nice memories together. I miss you so much, and I love you. You are always my hope. Salute!” Dongwoo, on the other hand, got a special shout from his group Infinite on Twitter. According to Soompi, the 29-year-old rapper will come for a Live session on V LIVE on Monday, November 16, at 6.30 pm KST to celebrate his return.

The fans of both the K-pop stars were more than elated to hear the good news. One user tweeted, “Minho and dongwoo's discharge today. Yas my 2nd gen keep coming back.” One emotional fan stated, “Minho discharge Shinees back Key IG live Now Hyukjae content huhuhhhhuhuhhh I want to cry I know this is dumb but I feel like these are such small blessings to me to get me thru this week.” Another individual shared, “Seeing military discharge pictures of SHINee's Minho made me more excited for discharge of Minseok. I can't waiiiiit huhuhu.” One Dongwoo’s fan stated, “Even the military couldn't change him. Dongwoo is still our fluff ball of sunshine.” Another added, “My dead soul is coming back to life just as the Infinte members come back from the military.”
