Shia LaBeouf thought he would ‘lose his mind’ if he ever kissed Angelina Jolie on-screen
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has been over seven years since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie called it quits after the latter filed for divorce from the former citing “irreconcilable differences” in 2016. Following their separation, the former couple got embroiled in a messy custody battle over their six children and is currently involved in a legal fight over their Chateau Miraval French winery.
While Pitt and Jolie’s relationship has turned bitter ever since their split, they were once considered a power couple by their fans and Hollywood co-actors. Back in 2008, a few years after “Brangelina” started dating, actor Shia LaBeouf admitted that he would “lose his mind” if he got a chance to kiss Jolie on-screen but mentioned that it would be a “lose-lose” situation as she would still go home to Pitt.
‘This is a lose-lose right now’
While LaBeouf has closely worked with some of the biggest actresses in Hollywood, he never had the opportunity to collaborate with Jolie. However, when the actor was asked, “What would you do if you starred in a movie with Angelina Jolie and you had to make out with her?” during an old interview with Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos, the ‘Transformers’ star said he would lose his mind in the given situation.
“I would lose my mind,” the actor said, adding, “In the back of your head, you [would be] thinking, ‘She’s gonna kiss me right now and then go home with Brad Pitt! This is a lose-lose right now.'" In another interview with GQ, the actor admitted that he often fell for his onscreen partners.
“Oh, I’ve been in love with every woman I’ve ever worked with,” LaBeouf confessed. If given a chance, the actor would have also considered dating his co-stars. However, he mentioned, “But some aren’t available. And then there’s the three-month attention span that actors have, you know I don’t know if it’s mutual, but I really don’t care. They have to kiss me when ‘action’ gets called, anyway, so I’ll get what I want.”
Shia LaBeouf worked with Brad Pitt in ‘Fury’
While LaBeouf’s dream about sharing screen space with Jolie never turned into a reality, he ironically ended up working with Pitt in the 2014 war film, ‘Fury.’ In the movie, LaBeouf played the role of tank gunner Boyd “Bible” Swan while Pitt played tank commander Don “Wardaddy” Collier.
During filming, Pitt even had to intervene when LaBeouf got into an altercation with co-star Scott Eastwood. “We were driving down the road, I’m in the turret, Shia is at the other turret, and Scott is on the back, spitting juice. Shia saw it and felt the same – he’s disrespecting our home. So Shia had the same reaction I did and started having some words,” Pitt recalled while speaking about the tense situation with GQ.
“I had to get in after the cameras were rolling and explain it to Scotty. The funny thing is, when we got home at the end of the day and read the script, it said Scotty’s character is ‘chewing tobacco and spitting it on the back of the tank’. He was just doing as instructed in the script! So we were the knobs in the end,” Pitt explained.
