‘She was prepared to go’: Suzanne Somers 'rejected' chemo after her cancer returned and didn’t regret it

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Suzanne Somers, the late actress who starred in 'Three’s Company', died Sunday at the age of 76, just one day before her birthday on October 15. 

The New York Times best-selling author had been battling breast cancer for the second time in her life, after being first diagnosed 23 years ago.

Somers had chosen to treat her cancer with alternative methods, such as supplements and bioidentical hormones, instead of chemotherapy. She had reportedly been a vocal advocate of holistic medicine for years.

Suzanne Somers gave up chemotherapy

Daily Mail reported that she had discovered that her cancer had returned only at the beginning of summer.

"She didn't have that long to really do anything other than accept it," a source said.

Somers had refused to listen to the advice of her friends and family who urged her to consider more conventional treatments.

“Suzanne chose not to do chemotherapy to treat her cancer and opted for a more holistic approach,” the source said.

“She was advised by several people to consider the more conventional approach, but she did not listen.”

The source added that Suzanne had no regrets about her decisions and that she was ready to accept her fate.

“She never regretted her decisions and she was prepared to go,” the source said.

"She believed that she lived a life beyond her wildest dreams and truly made a dent in the world.”

It was reported that Somers had been able to say goodbye to her loved ones in the days before her death.

“The timing of her passing was a blessing because her loved ones were there,” the source reportedly said.

“She was able to say her goodbyes to everyone she loved, which was so many people. She was accepting of her fate and went with dignity.”

"Saying the words publicly out loud - "I have breast cancer."

According to reports underwent lumpectomy and radiation to get rid of it. Refusing chemotherapy she took combined alternative medicine.

In 2007 she revealed being cancer-free. However in July this year she announced it had returned and she was ready to put on  "battle gear" to fight it, saying, I am a fighter."

She had also revealed living a chemical-free life and taking Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) for which she also became a vocal advocate suggesting it had extended her life expectancy.
