'Breast friends': Shay Mitchell shares powerful photo of her breastfeeding infant daughter Atlas Noa
After just a couple of months of giving birth to her first child, Shay Mitchell is already back on social media breaking stigmas surrounding breastfeeding.
On Tuesday, December 10, the 'Pretty Little Liars' star took to Instagram and shared an empowering picture of her feeding her infant daughter Atlas Noa.
In the photo, Shay donned a jade-green leather coat and black underwear as she looked straight into the camera and held her child close to her bare breasts. The actress captioned the post, "Breast friends."
A host of Shay's celebrity friends showered her with praise: "I mean come onnnnn", Vanessa Hudgens wrote to the new mom with a heart emoji. Hilary Duff joked: "That exactly what I looked liiiike !!!"
Model Ashley Graham, who is pregnant herself—and is known for frequently smashing pregnancy taboos by showcasing her fast-changing body her social media page, simply commented, "Mommy Goals!"
This is Shay's first child with her boyfriend of three years Matte Babel. The entire process of giving birth to her daughter after enduring 33 hours of labor was documented in her YouTube Original series 'Almost Ready', which highlighted the couple's journey towards parenthood.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 2019 Revolve Awards, Shay opened up about her experience of becoming a mother. "She is so incredible and growing every single day. I wouldn't trade it for the world," she said. "[What's surprised me is] just how little sleep you actually need to function, so that is what I've learned. And just to stop everything and really take it all in, because they do grow so fast."
The actress also penned a love letter to her newborn with a sweet photo of her hugging her daughter.
"Truth is I had no idea I was capable of loving anything like this before you arrived. You wonder if that’s just something people say, but it’s as if the chemical makeup of my entire body and soul changed the minute we met. I wake up each day (and also every 2-3 hours ;) still in awe that you are mine, and I am yours. I’m still learning about you and I’ll never grow old of watching you slowly wake up, catch a glimpse of me or your dad and focus intently, almost as if to say 'I know you' Just know, sweet girl - Whatever you choose to do in this world, whoever you choose to love, wherever you choose to go, I will always be your biggest fan. I am already so proud to be your Mama," her caption said.
