From the day fans saw the trailer of Shawn Mendes’ documentary ‘In Wonder,’ they have been waiting eagerly to take a sneak-peek into his life. ‘In Wonder’ follows Mendes’s journey toward self-discovery, after the physical and emotional demands of his rise, and his last world tour pushed him towards a personal and musical reckoning.

The film offers unprecedented access to Mendes’s private life both at home and while traveling across North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, and features years of footage as he rose from a precocious troubadour to global superstar. Apart from making headlines for his work, the 22-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter has also been in news for his relationship with American-Cuban singer-songwriter Camila Cabello. And, the best part is the documentary does shed light on the same.

Mendes opens up about his relationship with the 23-year-old crooner and credits her as one of the reasons he has been so successful. The documentary walks viewers through the first time they met while opening up for Austin Mahone’s 2014 tour (she was a member of Fifth Harmony then). While speaking about Camila in his documentary, he gushes, “For the past, like, four years, just being friends and not being able to see each other very often to finally being able to be together, she was always there to look out for me as a human being. She’s got my back, and I think that’s what your partner is for.”

And guess what, the singer also reveals in his Netlfix’s documentary that every song of his is about Camila. While sharing one of their earlier conversations, Mendes asserts, “We were in New York and my song comes on the radio or something, and the fact comes up that it’s about her, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s about you.’ And I’m like, ‘Everything is about you. They’ve always been about you,’” he recalls. “She goes, ‘What do you mean?’ I’m like, ‘They’re all about you. Like, every song I’ve ever wrote.’ And I’m, like, rhyming off the songs. I’m like, ‘Treat You Better,’ like, all these songs. And she’s like, ‘Oh, my God.’ She literally had no idea. This whole time I thought she, like, knew.”

For the unversed, Mendes and Camila first met in July 2014 and became good friends. It was in November 2015, when they first sparked the dating rumours after they dropped their song ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ Then after showering praises on each other on social media, it was not until June 2019 when the fans were sure, these two were in love and were dating, all thanks to their steamy collaboration on the hit single ‘Senorita.’ However, the duo did not confirm it until September 2019.

Coming back to Shawn Mendes's documentary, the 83-minute film was also a part of the special event selection at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival in September. Shawn Mendes’ ‘In Wonder’ starts streaming on Monday, November 23, 12 am PT/3 am ET only on Netflix.
