'I was very sick for months': Sharon Osbourne reveals she lost 30 lbs using weight loss drugs for 4 months
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: The newest weight loss drugs aren't a quick fix, according to Sharon Osbourne, who is talking about her experience with them. The plastic surgery fan, 70, talked about the recent fad of using drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro after it was revealed that the debut of Wegovy in the UK had been delayed owing to concerns that the demand would be huge and might lead to shortages.
During the show, 'The Talk', Osbourne acknowledged that after recently using a weight-loss drug, she experienced plenty of side effects. 'The Talk' host claimed to be "very sick for a couple of months" on Thursday, May 4. Osbourne is not the only celebrity who has been upfront about using drugs to lose weight, such as the Type II diabetes pill Ozempic, as reported by Page Six.

'Like everything, there’s always no quick recipe'
Osbourne said, "The first couple of months, I just felt nauseous. Every day I felt nauseous, my stomach was upset, whatever." Osbourne further said that she lost 30 pounds while using the drug for four months, but she did not name which one. She added that "like everything, there’s always no quick recipe." The mother of three, however, asserted that her appetite has returned to normal as a result of ceasing to inject herself with the weight-loss drugs.
Osbourne said, "But listen, I took it for four months, I lost 30 pounds. I’ve just shoved two chips in my mouth, while we had the break, and I eat normally now, and I haven’t put on a pound. Nothing." For people who struggle to lose weight, according to Osbourne, "It is a mental problem." She added, "It really is, apart from, you know, when children grow up in a household where they live off chips and pies." On Friday, the day before King Charles III's coronation, the former reality star flaunted her slimmer physique as she left her hotel in London.
Experts' opinion on weight loss drugs
An FDA-approved prescription drug called Wegovy is meant for individuals with chronic obesity. It's one of the brand names for the drug semaglutide, also marketed under the name Ozempic (for type 2 diabetics), which works by targeting brain regions that control appetite. Ania Jastreboff, MD, PhD, an obesity medicine physician scientist at Yale University, recently explained that because obesity is a chronic disorder, people who use Wegovy must continue taking the meds if they want to maintain their weight loss, as per People.
MEAWW previously reported that Chinese researchers believe the medications might enlarge a person's small intestine, placing them at a high risk of developing intestinal obstruction. Intestinal obstruction can result in serious, sometimes fatal consequences, including tissue death, if untreated or undiagnosed.
Celebrities who’ve used weight-loss drugs
Hollywood's newest trend is weight-loss medication, with reality stars like Dolores Catania of 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' and Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi of 'Shahs of Sunset' admitting to using it to lose weight. Bethenny Frankel, who claimed to have heard that the pills can impact people's emotions and personalities, is one of the celebrities who has warned about the adverse effects of the drugs.
While celebrities like Kyle Richards have come out against using the once-weekly shot for Type II diabetes treatment Ozempic or others like it to lose weight quickly, others have been outspoken about doing so. In order to get in shape for the 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Season 13 reunion filming, Dolores Cantina admitted to using Ozempic. Catania answered the host's question on the negative effects, "Just not hungry," as per Page Six.
Newcomer Jennifer Fessler to 'RHONJ' recently said she used an Ozempic variant to assist with weight loss. Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi admitted that the weight loss drugs caused her to lose more than 10 pounds, and she even showed her followers how to self-inject. According to Gharachedaghi, she had health problems in 2022 that caused her to put on weight, which she "very, very, very hard time getting rid of," according to Page Six.
Chelsea Handler stated that a friend who was also using Ozempic informed her that she had previously taken the weight-loss medication. Handler's pal, upon hearing that she was "on semaglutide," confirmed that Ozempic was the generic form, as per Page Six. Later, the comic acknowledged that she had stopped using the diabetes medication.
'I looked like a f***ing Cyclops'
Sharon's comments follow her revelation that she had abandoned plastic surgery after discovering that a 2021 facelift left her "looking like a cyclops." The TV celebrity has a history of enjoying surgical procedures, but she now claims that the outcomes of the most recent one left her feeling "frightened." "That [face life] put me off and it frightens me, I really f***ing pushed it with the last facelift and I am now like, no more," she said in an interview with The Sun. "Time is against me, I cannot have another facelift."
