Shacare Terry, an Indy mom, reportedly died after being unable to move or breathe after she underwent a Brazilian butt-lift (BBL) surgery. Shacare Terry had gone to the Dominican Republic with her childhood friend Carlesha Williams on April 11 to undergo a BBL and stomach tuck but she never came back home. Terry's twin sister Sharae described the single mother as a loving mother to her two-year-old and the proud owner of a daycare facility called 'Minnie Blessings in Paradise'.

According to WRTV report, when Sharae FaceTimed her twin after the procedure, she realized something was wrong.“I knew something wasn’t right. I knew it in my heart,” Sharae said. Terry's friend, Williams, who also underwent the same procedures, claimed that on the second day after surgery, she was still in a lot of pain, but Terry was even worse off. Terry had to be admitted to a nearby clinic in Santiago the next day. “When we go in there, and I see her, I almost fell out,” Williams said. “She was on all these machines. She was unresponsive, she wasn’t talking, eyes closed.”

But the doctor told Williams that Terry was alright, that her kidneys were fine even though she needed dialysis while she recovered, and all she needed to do was relax. The doctor assured her that Terry wasn't reacting because she was sedated. “So, he said, ‘if you unhook that, she is going to be perfectly fine,’ and he said ‘yea, the body just needs rest,’” Williams added.

Williams realized that Terry was being treated by a new doctor when she came in the next day to see her. According to this doctor, Terry was having problems breathing on her own. This was different from what Williams was told by the surgeon who had performed the treatment on both women, who had assured her that Terry was fine and only needed dialysis while she 'rested'. Williams says both of their surgeries were performed by Dr. Jose Desena at Instituto Medico San Lucas.

“I’m reaching out to the mother to get down here,” Williams told WRTV. “I’m telling them what’s going on, but I’m trying not to scare them, but I want to scream ‘get down here!’" When Terry's mother arrived in the Dominican Republic about a week after the botched procedure, Williams said the surgeon told them to leave as she simply needed rest.“Her mother basically tells me that ‘I don’t believe that my daughter is alive, I know my daughter isn’t alive, why won’t they tell me,’” Williams said.

Williams had to return to Indiana, but the day before she left, she dropped by her friend's clinic and was guaranteed that she would be awakened the next day. Williams returned to the United States on April 21 after learning of Terry's death. “[Shacare’s] mom said, 'Carlesha, I went back to my room for an hour, and they called me and told me that her heart stopped that quick,'” Williams said. “She hurries up and goes right back to the clinic, and they said her daughter was already in a body bag.”

Terry's family is working with Williams to figure out what happened to her. “We are going to keep fighting,” Sharae told the outlet. “Will not stop at all, Shacare was a very important person.”The United States Department of State confirmed to the outlet that a US citizen passed away in the Dominican Republic but failed to provide a name or further details about the death.
