Sha’Carri Richardson was removed from an American Airlines flight after an argument with a flight attendant on Saturday, January 21 and social media reacted to her interaction seen in the video that got her kicked off the plane. The US track and field sprinter took the incident to her Instagram claiming that the flight attendant, identified as 'John' according to Richardson, showed her disrespect while she was speaking on her phone before the plane's takeoff. Before panning to the crew member, the 23-year-old sprinter posted a video of herself from her seat.

Captioning one of her videos, Richardson wrote, “Prior to the video, this gentleman asked me to get off a cell phone call, I did. I stated to him I didn’t like the tone he used with me. Following that while standing in front of me doing the safety protocols he continued to lean over to look at my phone. He wanted to see that my phones were in airplane mode at this point. He demanded that I show him. Which I did in front of him.” The flight attendant stepped back, hiding behind a curtain after she showed him on camera and the argument continued when she was asked to stop the recording. The initial remarks between her and the crew member were not captured in the video. Richardson wrote that she was vacationing. However, it is not clear where she intended to travel.

“I’m recording me but you jumped in my video, so I caught you because you jumped in my video. You’re harassing me at this point, so I think you should stop. I think you should stop,” she talked to the flight attendant. However, in the video, it can be heard that multiple passengers disagreed with her and asked her to stop the argument to which she responded, “Y’all see him right? Y’all see him right? Y’all see him right? I’m sorry, it’s not me. Talk to him. No ma’am. Do not talk to me like that. I’m an adult. Do not talk to me like that. Do not talk to me like that. Tell him to stop. If you do not know what’s going on, do not yell at me.”

'Entitled people are sickening'

People on the internet erupted with comments responding to Richardson's flight incident. One Twitter user wrote, "Respect your pilots and flight attendants! They are doing their job to keep us safe. Phones should be off when boarding a plane in my opinion," and another wrote, "So sick of these people assaulting people on planes. They need to be on a NO fly list for life. Find a different way to travel. Entitled people are sickening."

"What is going on with celebrities not wanting to follow rules? Can someone explain this to me?," while someone remarked, "Using her privilege to be unfair to others."

"World-class sprinter to a no-class air traveler all under 12 seconds. Well done," a user wrote and someone wrote, "After reviewing the footage, I find that the kicking-off was just. She was guilty of not getting off her phone, compounded by talking in that really annoying voice. It is so RULED.

"She should be barred from flying on public airlines," someone opined while another remarked, "It was so simple to Turn off your phone. It's that simple."
