Soloists IU and Jay Park donate 100M won each to flood relief after DISASTROUS rain hits Seoul
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: The past week saw one of the most disastrous rainfalls that Seoul has witnessed in many years. According to reports, the rainfall on the night of August 8 killed at least nine people, injured 17 people, and rendered seven others missing. With such overwhelming damage to the nation's capital as Seoul experienced the most torrential rainfall in the last three decades, various donations have started pouring in.
It has been reported that popular celebrities like K-pop idols, as well as actors from the Korean Entertainment industry, have come out to help relief campaigns by providing monetary support. On August 12 it was reported that soloist and "Nation's sister" IU (Lee Ji-Eun) had donated a total of 100 million won ($76,782) to help with flood relief. Not only IU but it was reported that singer Jay Park (Park Jae-Beom) too has helped by contributing the same amount to provide relief to the damages caused by the torrential rains.

IU reclaims her title of being a donation fairy
According to IU's agency, it was reported that she has donated 100 million won ($76k) to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to help provide relief to the damages caused due to the torrential rain. With the addition of this contribution from IU, the total amount of donations made by her from January 2021 to August 2022 is 2 billion won ($ 15 million). Fans are aware of how IU has been consistent with her donations for years and have started calling her donation fairy for her charitable deeds.
It was also reported that IU donated 50 million won ($38k) each to two different organizations under the pseudonym IUaena, a combination of her name IU and that of her fan club Uaena to commemorate the release of her fifth regular album, 'Lilac' that released in March of 2021. IU has also donated 10 million ($7k) won to the city of Gwacheon to be used for Covid-19 relief.
Jay Park donates for flood relief in Seoul
On her last birthday, IU made a total of five donations to the underprivileged, including the Korea Children's Cancer Foundation, the Children's Support Group with Rare Diseases, and more organizations in a sum that crosses the total of 1 billion won ($7 million) proving that her charitable acts are recurring. Other than IU, soloist, and CEO of More Vision, Jay Park has donated 100 million won ($76k) to help overcome the damage of heavy rain centered in the central region of Seoul.
According to reports, Jay Park had donated the sum to The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association via One Spirits Hospital. The donation made by Jay Park is intended to help the victims of flood disasters so that they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible. Jay Park also donated 50 million won ($38k) to Hope Bridge back in March when South Korea experienced the East Coast forest fires.
