Singer Selena Gomez, who entered a mental health facility for rehab earlier this week, made the decision because of a number of reasons but a source close to the star said that one of the main reasons was that ex-boyfriend "Justin Bieber’s engagement would undoubtedly have an effect on her". Page Six also found out that Gomez's stay in the treatment center will be "open ended". The source also said: "Selena has had a lot on her plate — too much. And, of course, as with any major life event," the engagement is also said to have affected her in some small way.

Gomez and Bieber were in an on-again-off-again relationship from 2011 till earlier this year when they decided to call it quits for good. It was reported in September that the Sorry singer got married to Hailey Baldwin. Bieber was spotted weeping in his car last week and many fans have speculated that it was because he was upset about Gomez's struggles.

The source, however, has stressed that Bieber was not the only reason that she decided to check herself into treatment. They said: "Selena also has a major medical condition with Lupus and her transplant, which always is a complicating factor." The former Disney star had to have a kidney transplant in September 2017.

Before Gomez checked herself into the mental health facility, she reportedly became very emotional about how she had been hospitalized twice in September due to complications from her transplant. Page Six was told that she most likely checked into a facility on the East Coast to do dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which TMZ reported previously, but is also said to be taking part in a wellness program. Some of the options that the program is said to offer is meditation, life coaching, fitness and spa treatments, nutrition coaching, and art therapy.

It was reported that Gomez first went to the Dawn at the Meadows facility in 2014 for treatment and also checked into a facility in Tennessee in 2016. Sources told Page Six that she had been spotted earlier this year staying at a laxury facility caled Privé-Swiss.

Gomez has opened up about her struggles that she has faced and has told Vogue in a previous interview: "I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient . . . We also need to feel allowed to fall apart."
