Selena Gomez and Blackpink: Will the collaboration bring her bestie Taylor Swift closer to the K-Pop band?

Although the name of the track is yet to be announced, the ‘Come & Get It' singer herself confirmed the date of the release of her forthcoming collab with Blackpink 

After teasing a collaboration with a high-profile musician for quite some time now, South Korean girl group Blackpink has finally revealed that they are joining hands with none other than Selena Gomez in their upcoming release. Although the name of the track is yet to be announced, the ‘Come & Get It' singer herself confirmed the date of the release of her forthcoming collab with Blackpink. 

Gomez took to Twitter to make the big announcement on August 11. She wrote, "So SO excited to announce @BlackPinkOfficial and I have a new song coming out August 28th." She also shared a tentative poster for her next release which states that the new single would be stopped at 12 am EST or 1 pm KST on August 28. 

The upcoming track follows Blackpink’s record-breaking single ’How You Like That’. The band’s debut studio album is slated to arrive on October 2. Only a week ago, YG Entertainment teased Blackpink’s secret collaboration with a top artist. 

The news regarding Gomez collaborating with Blankpink has garnered a wide range of reactions. While the fans of the ‘Wolves’ singer are super thrilled about their favorite artist creating a piece of art with one of the most talented K-Pop groups, a few are rather excited about the K-Pop band featuring a different musician. One excited fan wrote, "I think I will stan selena she seems so pure and has a really good discography... plus she’s about to serve with the Blackpink collab I’m genuinely excited."

Many of the unternet users however said that they would rather see Taylor Swift with Blackpink. Some fans have even noted that Gomez and Swift's friendship could help the latter land a deal with the South Korean girl band. One user tweeted, "So selena is taylor swift's bestfriend and what if selena introduced blackpink to taylor can we get a taylor x blackpink now."

Another added," Blackpink collaborating with Selena - Selena is bestfriends with Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift listening to the collab - Taylor Swift finding out who Rosé is - Taylorsé collab in RS1."

Another fan noted, "WILL WE GET TAYLOR SWIFT X BLACKPINK LATERRRR?!!! selena is close with taylor rightttt?"
