Scott Disick, Sofia Richie split after he made Kourtney Kardashian priority because he still loves her: Source
Scott Disick had to break up with Sofia Richie due to his love for former girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, it is being said. After dating the 21-year-old model for three years, Scott's departure from the relationship was revealed this week. Insiders have claimed there was tension brewing between the couple due to Scott's residual or lingering feelings for his ex.
"Scott is always going to be in love with Kourtney, and that’s something Sofia has had to face since even before she got serious with him," a source told Us Weekly. They said Sofia, the daughter of famed singer Lionel Richie, finally came to the conclusion that she was never going to be Disick's priority.
"It’s been an ongoing thing. It just became more apparent that his family was more of a priority than she was, and his family would be his main priority over anything and anyone," the insider added.
Disick dated Kourtney for nine years from 2006 to 2015. During this time, they had three children together, namely Mason, 10, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 5. Multiple outlets confirmed Wednesday that Disick and Sofia decided to go their separate ways after the former's recent stint in rehab.
Disick entered rehab last month seeking treatment for "past traumas," as reported by the Daily Mail. "Sofia noticed that he wasn’t doing well and gave him an ultimatum, and in the end, it seemed like Scott was more focused on Kourtney and his kids than her," a source told the paper.
Disick shared a photo to Instagram shortly after news of his split broke. "Little water never hurt nobody," the star remarked as he shared a photo of himself by a swimming pool in Utah.
Meanwhile, Page Six claimed Sofia had had enough of Disick's bad ways coupled with his feelings for his ex. "Scott had gone back to his old ways," the source said, "and Sofia got fed up."
Disick recently celebrated his 37th birthday with Kourtney and their three children in Lake Powell, Utah. Sofia was not present at the party. However, there is no indication that Disick and Kourtney have reconciled. One source reportedly told Us Weekly that he is yet to prove himself to her after having had numerous chances over the years.
"The fact that he is the father of their three kids keeps them connected forever. Kourtney wants the best for Scott and knows they’ve been through the wringer together. She lets him in — but at an arm’s length," the insider explained.
Disick had checked into rehab on April 28 at the All Points North Lodge in Edwards, Colorado. According to the Daily Mail, the reality TV star was coping with issues related to alcohol and cocaine abuse. However, his lawyer Marty Singer disputed the claims.
Kourtney hinted at some drama in her life with a cryptic post on her Instagram story shortly after. "Kinda tired of being OK with things I'm not okay with," she wrote at the time.
Disick and Sofia started dating in the summer of 2017 after meeting around the time of his birthday. The reality TV star was spotted flirting with the model aboard a yacht in the south of France on May 24 for his 34th birthday getaway party.
