Scott Disick and Sofia Richie break up after three years together, says source
Scott Disick and Sofia Richie have reportedly broken up after being together for almost three years. A source revealed to the Us Weekly that the couple has called it quits following Scott's recent stint in a rehab facility in Colorado. Disick earlier dated Kourtney Kardashian with whom he shares three children, ten-year-old Mason, seven-year-old Penelope, and five-year-old Reign. On Tuesday, May 26, when he celebrated his 37th birthday, he was seen with his ex Kourtney and their three children in Lake Powell, Utah, however, Sofia was not present at the celebration.
The news of their breakup came less than a week after it was said that the 21-year-old was “giving space” to Disick after his abrupt exit from rehab. “She has been giving Scott space to figure out his next steps but has consistently been supporting him. Their relationship has been three years of ups and downs, but she isn't leaving him to the dust.
"She's very loyal to Scott. He hasn't wanted to leave the house since his rehab exit, so Sofia will go and hang with friends by herself to get away and let Scott have space. Scott has been in a very vulnerable place this last month and sometimes it is best for their relationship if they have space and do their own thing," a source said at the time.
According to reports, the ‘Flip It Like Disick’ star had been seeking treatment as he was struggling to deal with his parents’ death who passed away within three months of each other. First, he lost his mother Bonnie in 2013 after she had been ill for a long time, while his father Jeff passed away from unknown causes in 2014.
A source said at the time that Richie “noticed a change” in Disick before he went to seek treatment, so he “made the decision to get help for himself and for her and their relationship.” He had reportedly checked into the facility on April 28 at the All Points North Lodge in Edwards, Colorado, but soon checked out after a photo of him at the facility leaked. He was reportedly left feeling “betrayed” after his picture emerged online.
“He’s not giving up on getting help. He still wants to deal with everything that’s come up, but he may end up doing it privately at home. Scott feels so let down and betrayed. There was no way he could stay there. He needs to be in a safe space to heal, and it’s now going to be even harder for him to trust,” a source close to the model said at the time.
Meanwhile, another source revealed that Disick and Richie were going strong as of December 2019. Though the pair was not reportedly discussing marriage at the time, they were “so committed to one another.” The father-of-three also tried to have a better bond with his girlfriend’s family, especially, Richie’s father Lionel Richie. “Since Scott is a father himself, he recognizes the importance of a close bond with his children and would never want to harm the relationship between Lionel and Sofia, especially because Scott’s parents have both passed away. He values family above all else and will always look to build a bond with Sofia and her family, and would never want to detract from it,” an insider said in December 2019.
