'Save My Skin': John feels like an alien with 'joints of meat' hanging from his nose
John wants to make it big in the entertainment industry and even though he has been acting for a long time, things have slowed down because of his nose. John first came to London to chase his dream of becoming an actor and even though he landed a couple of roles, recently, he has been facing difficulty getting more jobs.
His nose happens to have lumps or extra skin that have increased the size of his nose. This has resulted in a distorted appearance and made it difficult for John to land a job. He said that he has received a lot of attention because of his nose and it allows him to stand out but none of that has done him any good.
In the past, his appearance made him a good match for villainous roles but ever since his nose started growing in size, people have been hesitant to cast him. While describing the way his nose looks, John said that he feels like an alien because his nose keeps growing bigger in size. It also looks like he has joints of meat hanging from his nose, he said.
He revealed that there have been times when he has felt like taking a knife and cutting the extra skin by himself. After struggling for a couple of years with his nose, John finally decided to meet Dr Emma Craythorne and get his nose fixed.
Dr Craythorne had a look at John's nose and realized that he had a condition called Rhinophyma. In this condition, people have extra red, lumpy skin growing on their nose. Dr Craythorne suggested that he could do a laser surgery and remove the lump.
She explained that she can use the laser to vaporize the tissue and remove the extra skin. John agreed to have the laser surgery and without wasting any second they got to the procedure. Dr Craythorne decided to treat one side of his nose first. Once the procedure was successful, she asked John to come after a couple of weeks to perform the procedure on the other side of the nose and he did.
During his next visit, Dr Craythorne performed the laser procedure on the other side of the nose. She was happy to see how his nose looked once the procedure was done. Meanwhile, John felt happy about how his nose had changed and looked forward to doing more work.
'Save My Skin' airs on Thursdays at 9 pm ET on TLC.
