Sasha Obama seen at University of Michigan secret service in tow as classes set to begin in Fall
Sasha Obama will be starting her college at the University of Michigan next week, and according to reports, she is already at the campus settling in.
As per a report in Detroit News, the 18-year-old daughter of former President Barack Obama was seen attending freshman orientation at the Ann Arbor school this week before classes begin next Tuesday.
Many students reported seeing here followed by men who were reportedly Secret Service agents. The outlet quoted a third-year film student Zach Lassen as saying, "I was walking by pushing a vacuum and she walked out right in front of me."
The university faculty however didn't confirm her enrolment as it is against their policy to disclose details about individual students.
Another student at the college saw Sasha around the university’s undergraduate library and shared that she is just "a normal student to me."
Rumors last year speculated that Sasha was going to be joining the Big Ten university and not following her family's footsteps and attending an Ivy League school. The rumors were based on an Instagram post reportedly from her private account in which she was seen with two of her friends and which read, "So proud to say I’m going to college with my sisters!!". The University of Michigan was tagged in the post.
Barack Obama had attended Columbia University while her mother Michelle had attended Princeton University. They both then went to law school at Harvard University. Sasha's older sister Malia enrolled at Harvard in 2017 after deciding to take a gap year.
Malia will be starting her third year at Harvard in the fall.
Sasha graduated from the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC in June and had her whole family cheering her on. The Obama family had stayed back in Washington after former president Barack left office for Sasha to finish high school.
The high school had shared a class picture which showed the youngest Obama in a white dress in the second row from the back, fourth from left. The Instagram post was captioned, "Congratulations to the Class of 2019! We can’t wait to see the great things you will do!"
Sasha graduated a day before she celebrated her 18th birthday.
