Sara Gilbert to separate from Linda Perry after 5 years of marriage, days after stepping down from 'The Talk'
'The Talk' creator and co-host Sara Gilbert is separating from wife Linda Perry ending their marriage of over five years. On Friday, December 27, 'The Conners' star and executive producer filed paperwork in Los Angeles, according to a TMZ report.
Latest reports have also stated that neither Perry nor Gilbert would be awarded spousal support, and it is a request made by the latter. Gilbert has announced the date of separation as August 13.
The news regarding her disintegrating marriage comes only days after she stepped down from her show 'The Talk' stating she wanted to spend more time with her family. She even told USA Today in an interview that her "life was slightly out of balance".
"I enjoy feeling stretched, but I never want my work or my family to suffer, so then I think where you suffer is with yourself. Now I have more time with my kids, more time being creative. I'm exercising again. I'm developing projects."
She further shared, "It was the right move at this time in my life, with 'The Talk', 'The Conners', the production company I launched with ('Conners' executive producer Tom Werner) and having three kids. There just wasn't enough time."
Her farewell episode on the CBS talk show was recorded in August and saw her wife Perry make a special appearance. While on the show, honoring Gilbert's work, Perry said, "This is a true very inspiring human being here that is always trying to advance herself and everybody else around her."
Gilbert and Perry tied the knot in March 2014 in a rock concert-themed ceremony. The duo has a son together, Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry, born in 2015. They also share two more sons from Gilbert's previous marriage to ex-partner Ali Adler.
While their separation has been made official, the exact reason is yet to be stated.
