Samantha Markle slams Meghan and Harry for stepping back from royal duties: 'It's a slap in the face'
Samantha Markle slammed her estranged half-sister Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry for their decision to quit the royal family.
Samantha dubbed the couple's decision as a 'slap in the face'. She had spoken out on Thursday, January 9, post the pair's shocking announcement that they would be stepping away from their senior royal duties. As reported by Inside Edition, Samantha shared, "It is a slap in the face."
"I think what is shocking is the lack of consideration for the people involved, the British royal family, the promises that were originally made to honor royal duties and to lead by example," she added.
When asked whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be blamed for wanting to have a private life and leave the spotlight, Samantha said that Meghan would have known what royal life entailed.
"That's ridiculous, they stepped into the spotlight knowing what the duties were, knowing what the media would be like for them. Clearly, she knows she's engaging in attention-getting behaviors," she continued. She also referred to how if Meghan wanted to be private, she shouldn't have gone to watch her friend Serena Williams play at Wimbledon last year and be pictured with 40 empty seats around her.
In another interview to Sunrise Live on Friday, as reported by Daily Mail she said: "We all felt very ghosted... and I said if she'll do this to our family, she'll do this to yours." She further added: 'It's really insulting and I think quite hurtful and I'm shocked that this is happening to the British royal family."
"I can say I told you so... but it's hurtful for our family to see this. It's unconscionable, I don't understand how she could have allowed this to happen with no remorse."
In their announcement, the pair had said that they were planning to split their time between the UK and North America. Despite the fact that Samantha lives in Florida, she shared that she has no intention of using the proximity to mend her relationship with her sister. "No, I don't have any plan of that with the way she's treated this family, our family, and the royals. I think it's horrendous how we've been treated and I wouldn't want to associate with anyone who could do this to people so easily," she revealed.
Ever since Meghan and Harry got married in 2017, Samantha has been very vocal about her dysfunctional relationship with her sister.
