Meghan and Harry will 'never find true happiness' as they chose 'fame over family', says Samantha Markle
Samantha Markle, Meghan Markle's estranged half-sister, is the latest to slam the Sussexes for their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family, saying the couple will "never find happiness."
The royal family was left shellshocked by Prince Harry's and Meghan's bombshell announcement earlier this month, with Samantha pinning the blame on Meghan and stating in an op-ed column that the former actress had "ripped through the royal family like a tornado."
Samantha said the Sussexes' decision to quit the royal family less than two years after their wedding had "done great harm" to the institution and that she had no sympathy for her half-sister because she "knew the social requirements" of her role. She wrote that Meghan's behavior has been far from diplomatic, unlike that of the Queen, and also questioned her treatment of their dad, Thomas Markle, who she said had been "incredible" to both of them.
"Her friends leaked negative comments about the “toxic” Royal Family. She also allowed damage to be done against our family via friends and PR advisers," she said. "She watched the media taunt and torture my dad, never springing to his defense like a true humanitarian would."
"Thomas was an incredible dad. He paid every penny of her education and cared greatly for her. He is now frail, with a heart condition. He doesn’t have a PR team to spin him a good story," she continued, adding that the Queen, at the age of 93, "shouldn’t have had to face the stress of seeing her family torn apart."
Samantha said the least Meghan could have done is expressed her thanks to the Queen and Prince Charles for how they've handled the situation, and on a larger scale, also showed gratitude to her father or her first husband, Trevor, for giving her the opportunities to succeed.
"My sister has become a totally different person, choosing wealth and fortune over family," she stated. "Her decision to leave is nothing to do with the behavior of the royals, or race."
The half-sister also rubbished suggestions that there was a racist element involved in Harry and Meghan's departure from the royal family, pointing out the royals had "embraced" and "welcomed" her into their lives and "allowed her to promote people of all races."
"My fear is Meghan’s decision isn’t about moving to Canada for a quiet life as a young mother," she opined. "Nothing about their actions so far suggest they truly desire a private life out of the limelight. Their objective is fame and fortune — to be Hollywood."
"Harry has put Meghan above his brother, father, and grandmother," she continued. "I am worried that Meghan and Harry will never find true happiness. They could not find contentment with the Royal Family, will they be able to find it away from them?"
