EAST LONDON, LONDON: According to a recent interview on Jackie Brambles' Greatest Hits Radio show, 56-year-old singer, Samantha Fox, who gained fame as a glamour model in the 1980s, shared her thoughts on the pressures young women face in today's society. She said that she 'wouldn't encourage' young girls to follow in her footsteps due to the new challenges created by social media.

Samantha went on to explain, "There's no 'Page Three' anymore and now I think all the reality stars are like the new glamor girls. There's so much pressure on young girls now to look a certain way and if I did have a young daughter, I probably wouldn't let her look on social media until she was a certain age." Samantha expressed concern about the current trend among young girls, saying, "I know young girls of 14 and 15 and they want to get Botox, big lips...I mean, they are so young and I'd be a bit scared for my daughter to go out in that world at the moment because there is so much pressure on the way you should look."

Aging gracefully and individuality in beauty

The 'Touch Me' singer has spoken about her belief that women should be encouraged to 'grow old gracefully.' In an interview, Samantha shared her thoughts on the changing landscape of the industry and the pressure young girls face to conform to certain beauty standards. "The way I believe people should look is to grow old gracefully, but that's my feelings about it and everyone's got their choice. But I think young girls start so early and it's just such a shame," Samantha said.

She also expressed concern about the homogenization of beauty standards in the industry, saying, "And girls are looking very, very similar, and back in the day it was all about individuality, about being that girl next door and being approachable." Samantha believes that her approachability and relatability were what made her successful in her career.

The sudden loss of younger sister

Samantha is currently going through a devastating time after her younger sister, Vanessa, passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 50 earlier this month. Vanessa collapsed at her home and was immediately taken to St Barholomew's hospital in North London where she remained in an induced coma for nine days until her untimely death. As Samantha only had one sister from her dad's previous marriage to her mother, Carole Ann Wilken, this loss has hit her hard. According to sources, the singer had spent time with Vanessa before her passing and is currently struggling to come to terms with the heartbreaking news. Samantha is said to be beside herself with grief. Sam and Vanessa, who were known to share a close bond, had a strong relationship until Vanessa's health suddenly deteriorated.
