Sam Asghari talks about alleged 'assault' by Antonio Spurs' security director on Britney Spears: 'I am opposed to violence'
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Though their marriage may be on the rocks as per media reports, Sam Asghari stood by his wife amid the ‘slapgate’ controversy. Britney Spears was allegedly assaulted by NBA star Victor Wembanyama's security director and now the ‘Toxic’ singer is said to have filed an official police complaint. Sam Asghari has slammed the member of Victor Wembanyama’s security team who attacked her when she tried to get a picture with the sportsman. The 29-year-old let out his frustration over an Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 5, incident, “I am opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves.”
The Iranian-American added, “Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable. I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.”

'It knocked off her glasses too'
TMZ reported that since Britney Spears is a big fan of the 19-year-old prodigy basketball player, she went to get a selfie, and tapped the star on his right shoulder from behind. Unfortunately, his security director Damian Smith saw it as a threat and backhanded the singer, knocking her on the floor. It is said that she fell so hard her glasses were knocked off her too.
The ‘Gimme More’ crooner was at Catch restaurant located inside the ARIA Hotel and was enjoying a dinner with her husband and manager Cade Hudson. The outlet also claimed that after falling down, she walked back to her table quietly, before the security personnel came to apologize.
“‘You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans,’” he reportedly told Spears. The singer accepted the apology, but her security team had a long talk with Antonio Spurs’ guards too.
'Spears had filed a police report over ‘assault’ by security director'
The 41-year-old reportedly took action over being backhanded and filed a police report for battery with the LA authorities as per reports. However, it is not being treated as a criminal matter. The police are considering the incident "as serious as a heart attack," reports TMZ. After analyzing camera footage, the outlet alleged that while Smith pushed Britney's hand away, it was apparently her hand, and not Smith's, that struck her face as being reported.
