LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The third episode of Hulu’s psychological drama ‘Saint X’ inches closer to the truth that unfolded on the unfateful night of Alison’s murder. The police chief has finally located Alison’s body and has finally deemed Alison’s murder as an accident, despite compelling evidence that Alison was raped and was last seen with Edwyn and Gogo before her demise.

However, the episode which is titled ‘Men of Interest’ has more to do with the stories of the women in the scheme of things rather than the two islanders who were last seen with Alison. Edwyn and Gogo take up most of the screen time in this episode with their antics, but it is Alison and her younger sister, Emily, who push through obstacles and opinions to make their mark. In doing so, Alison and Emily, despite their conflicting personalities, shed light on a common trait that both the sisters so unspeakably possess. Alison, before her murder, is seen as outspoken and confident while a young Emily is meek and quieter. However, in the present timeline where Emily is all grown up, she seems equally confident as her deceased sister. But the biggest common factor between the two sisters is somewhat different. Confused? Allow us to explain.

Resilience breeds in both 'Thomas' sisters

In the first half of the episode during the flashback, Alison is speaking to his mother on the beach. Alison tells her mother about her aspirations to stand out and not turn into a corporate sellout like her dad. She comes across someone who dreams and will find a way due to her resilience and persistence. She puts her words into action by first going after Edwyn and kissing her and then rushing to Tyler to kiss him. She is free-spirited and doesn't need the idea of being defined by anyone. She gets what she wants, by hook or crook.

Similarly, in the present timeline, Emily is hellbent on learning about Clive Richardson who was once named Gogo when he was employed at the resort from where Alison vanished and was then found murdered. Clive’s appearance in New York has set Emily on a quest to find the truth about her sister’s death. Emily stalks him and eventually surprises him at a restaurant. She tries all ways to get closer to Clive and at one point, even shouts ‘Gogo’ by hiding in a car. This spooks Clive as well, who hasn’t heard anyone address him as ‘Gogo’ for as long as he can remember. Emily is persistent and resilient in her pursuits, just like Alison was.

Can Emily get closer to Clive?

So far Emily hasn’t been able to break the wall between herself and Clive. She’s pushing hard but is careful not to reveal her true identity as Alison's sister. Clive on the other hand is completely unaware that his past is coming to haunt him again. His nightmares are getting worse and it’s only a matter of time before Clive begins to lose his shred of sanity. For Emily to get closer to Clive, she’ll have to come up with something more intimate to gain Clive’s trust so that he can finally reveal the mystery surrounding Alison’s death to her.

You can catch 'Saint X' every Wednesday exclusively only on Hulu.
