A Summer Blockbuster is on the cards
'The Fall Guy' was a popular television series that aired on ABC for a total of 113 episodes from 1981 to 1986. The show followed the adventures of Colt, played by Lee Majors, a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a bounty hunter.
His partner in crime, Jody, portrayed by Heather Thomas, was a beautiful, street-smart assistant.
In the upcoming revival of the show, the lead characters will be played by Ryan Gosling as Colt and Emily Blunt as Jody.
Audiences had their first glimpse of the movie at CinemaCon 2023. In 2022, producer Kelly McCormick stated to Collider, "It feels like we're paying homage to the stunt community."
McCormick added, “And to, really, cinema and those of us who make the movies. And it’s sort of a love letter to the industry. On top of it just being really fun and what I think will be a really good time for the audience.”
The TV show centered around the life of Colt, a talented stuntman who worked during the day and hunted down criminals at night using his exceptional auto-stunt abilities. The show featured how he balanced his two contrasting lives and the challenges he faced.
Lee Majors, who portrayed Colt in the original ABC series is slated to make an appearance in the upcoming film adaptation of the show.
The new version is expected to bring a fresh take on the classic series and introduce it to a new generation of viewers.
'The Fall Guy' was written by Drew Pearce and directed by David Leitch for Universal Pictures and 87North Productions.
The movie was produced by Leitch, Gosling, McCormick, and Guymon Casady and executive produced by Pearce, Larson, Peter Cramer, Cecil O’Connor, Matt Reilly, and Geoff Shaevitz.
'The Fall Guy' promises to deliver a thrilling and engaging viewing experience for fans of the genre and it is set to hit theatres on March 1, 2024.
