Russell Crowe and GF Britney Theriot turned away from Mr Miyagi over 'sloppy clothes'
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Some restaurants are very strict about their dress code, and sometimes turn away celebrities if they are not in ‘proper dress code’. Let's kick off the story at Chapel Street, which some have criticized for being a bit too posh. Nevertheless, no one seems to have informed the staff of Japanese fusion restaurant Mr Miyagi, which believes their establishment can stop even Hollywood royalty like Russell Crowe and his girlfriend Britney Theriot, as they were not following their dress code.
On February 17, in the sweltering 37 degree heat, an exhausted Russell Crowe and his partner, Britney Theriot, stopped at Mr Miyagi for a quick bite when they were refused entry given the dine-in’s stringent dress code policy. It turns out that wearing athletic gear is not permitted inside the authentic Japanese eatery. Owner of the Japanese-fusion restaurant Mr. Miyagi on Chapel Street Kristian Klein agreed with the staff's decision and cited the couple's ‘sloppy workout clothes’ as the reason why they were sent away.

Is there more to the story?
Not really. It is just another classic incident of restaurants being resistive at the slightest difference caused to their policy. Since they started dating in 2020, Crowe and Theriot have been seen playing tennis together on numerous occasions. From what is known, on a scorching Friday, the ‘Robin Hood’ actor played a quick game of tennis with his lover before setting out on a quest to grab some dinner. Russell and Britney attempted but were refused entry into Mr Miyagi, located on Chapel Street in Melbourne's renowned shopping district
According to Grant Vandenberg, Russell's manager, who spoke to Daily Mail Australia, Russell was sporting a Ralph Lauren polo shirt that was brand new and bought exclusively for the game earlier that day. However, unruffled by the predicament, Crowe (who is the epitome of cool these days) took the rejection in his stride and decamped with Theriot to another nearby restaurant where they enjoyed a lovely meal.
Mr Miyagi welcomed them back
However, Crowe need not worry about his next trip to the eatery. It was all settled soon after the incident. The star and the restaurant have communicated behind the scenes in an effort to reach a mutually agreeable solution.
In light of the incident, owner of the restaurant Kristian Klein told CBD that it was difficult to enforce dress codes and that Crowe was not recognized by the staff, creating a bad scenario for everyone. Crowe and his partner were unaware that work clothing, athletic wear, and singlets are not permitted at Mr Miyagi's, in line with the establishment's ‘smart casual dress code’. Klein clarified, "We'd love for him to come to dinner, and we'd love to have him back."
