Fans react with love as Rumer Willis shares childhood pic with 'Papa' Bruce Willis
Rumer Willis has shared an old photo with her father Bruce Willis, nearly a month after he announced his retirement from acting due to health issues. On Thursday, April 21, 2022, Rumer posted a photo to her Instagram account showing her father kissing her on the forehead when she was a child. She captioned the post, "P A P A."
Willis' family announced in March that the 'Die Hard' star would be retiring from acting due to a decline in his cognitive abilities. "To Bruce's amazing supporters," the original message read, "as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities." They added, “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

The statement went on to say, “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,' and continued, “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.” The statement concluded with the lines, “As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.” Many fans and colleagues have paid tribute to Willis' efforts and achievements in Hollywood since the announcement.
Rumer Willis has since shared photos of herself with her father, which have always received positive feedback. Previous to the current throwback picture, Rumer captioned an old photo of herself and her father with her sisters Scout and Tallulah, "Girl Dad." In the comments section, fans expressed their gratitude for the touching photo. In another post that she uploaded on April 1, 2022, she wrote, "I love you Daddio, to the moon and back," thanking him for "teaching [her] to be so silly."

Rumer Willis said the disease had a negative impact on her dad's cognitive abilities, forcing him to retire. There have been rumors since Willis made his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of Stephen King's 'Misery' in 2015 that he was using an earpiece that fed him his lines. Moreover, he was also said to have been involved in a gun accident on set and later wondered why he was there, as he had almost forgotten the movie shooting.
