Rose McGowan rips Hillary Clinton over ties to 'predators' Bill Clinton and Harvey Weinstein: 'I can’t believe I used to support her'

Rose McGowan has come out against Hillary Clinton saying she can't believe she used to support her. The actress called out Clinton in a series of tweets posted on October 11 citing a report that Clinton's publicist told journalist Ronan Farrow that his investigation into Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct was "a concern".

“I knew that Hillary Clinton’s people, were protecting the Monster,” McGowan wrote. “I can’t believe I used to support her. I guess predators are her style.”

McGowan also referenced Clinton's husband and former president Bill Clinton in a separate tweet writing, “Hillary Clinton, did you have any concern for your husband’s victims? And what about HW victims? No? Didn’t think so.”

McGowan's comments came after the Hollywood Reporter put out an article saying that Farrow writes in his new book, 'Catch and Kill', that Clinton publicist Nick Merrill contacted Farrow while he was working on his award-winning New Yorker magazine story about Weinstein. Farrow was reportedly seeking an interview with Clinton as part of a book on foreign policy.

Merrill allegedly told Farrow that the Weinstein story was a “concern for us,” according to the report. Farrow reportedly also wrote that Weinstein had tried to leverage his relationship with Clinton to silence Farrow.

Fox News reports that Weinstein also allegedly contacted the NBC and Farrow’s father, Woody Allen, to try to keep the story from going to print. Merrill responded to the accusations made in the article in a tweet claiming that Weinstein had "misrepresented facts" to save himself.

"I genuinely respect Ronan’s work, but have no idea what Weinstein was saying to people to save himself," Merrill wrote. "What I do know is simple: I’d already rejected a Weinstein Co proposed doc about the election before talking to Ronan. If HW misrepresented facts, it wouldn’t be the 1st time.”

McGowan clarified her position saying that she is not against an individual, rather she opposes the abuse of power. She also added that she "really, really dislikes" people who lie and those who protect them.

"I am against abuse of power," McGowan wrote on Twitter. "Whether it be Trump, Clinton, HW, @NBC ... the list is long. I’m not raging, I just really, really dislike liars and those who protect them."

She also thanked Farrow for the work he has done in trying to expose Weinstein in yet another tweet in which she also encouraged her followers to get Farrow's book.

"Thank you for exposing the truth," she wrote. "I was tortured for two years and counting by these evil doers. There was so much going on behind the scenes that public doesn’t know about. To find out more, please get his book Catch and Kill. We survivors thank you @RonanFarrow"

McGowan was one of the first women to come out against Weinstein and she has been a staunch supporter of the #MeToo movement. Weinstein is currently facing rape charges and is scheduled to go on trial on January 6, 2020. Clinton has not yet responded to McGowan's comments.
