Joaquin Phoenix and fiancee Rooney Mara expecting first child together: 'She's six months along'
Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are reportedly expecting their first child together. It was reported on Monday, May 18, that the 35-year-old actress is pregnant and could nearly be up to "six months along," according to a source quoted by Page Six.
Rooney Mara and her fiancé Joaquin Phoenix, 45, are currently isolating at their home in Los Angeles and have not yet commented on claims of the recent big development in their lives.
The actress was pictured last week stepping out wearing a baggy T-shirt as she celebrated her sister Kate's very first Mother's Day. She reportedly arrived at her 37-year-old sibling's home carrying a bouquet of flowers and a small gift bag. Rooney's older sister and her husband Jamie Bell welcomed their first child in May last year. Actress Kate Mara had announced the arrival of her little girl last year in a social media post. Her baby's name has not yet been revealed.
Rooney Mara and 'The Joker' star Joaquin Phoenix got engaged in July last year. The news was confirmed by US Weekly after rumors of their potential engagement had been doing the rounds for months shortly after Mara was seen wearing an engagement ring, according to reports.
The duo first worked together in the 2013 film 'Her' and began dating shortly after working together on the film 'Mary Magdalene', reports state. They were officially first seen together as they made their red carpet debut in 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival's closing ceremony. Phoenix later confirmed their relationship, saying that they were living a private life together in the Hollywood Hills.
An insider, while talking to the outlet, said: "They don’t really like to go out. They mainly just like to be with each other as the two of them. They’re in their own bubble."
Phoenix, in October 2019, had told Vanity Fair that he was first convinced Rooney "despised" him, however, he later learned that she was just shy. "She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet. We were just friends, email friends. I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online," he had told the outlet.
The actor previously dated Anna Paquin in 2001 and Liv Tyler from 1995 to 1998. He has been also linked to Lindsay Lohan and Anna Friel, reports state.
The news of Mara's pregnancy comes after her latest movie, Disney's 'Nightmare Alley', was recently halted due to coronavirus restrictions. The film is a remake of the 1947 version, an American psychological thriller film about a corrupt con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist to trick people into giving them money. It is directed by Guillermo del Toro.
