Ronda Rousey almost lost her finger in a "freak accident" when she was filming a TV show for FOX titled '9-1-1'. Rousey took to Instagram on Tuesday to show a close-up of her bloody, mangled and broken finger as she lay in a hospital bed. The former UFC champion moved to WWE last year and has also starred in a couple of films and TV shows.

Rousey is currently filming for the FOX rescue drama series and revealed that she had badly broken her finger while she was on set.

In the Instagram post, she said that she carried on filming after the injury as she is used to live audience and never showing pain unless she is supposed to. "So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting 9-1-1 on," she wrote.

She went on to give details about the freak accident which resulted in the horrific injury.

"Freak accident, first take of the day, a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking," Rousey revealed.

When she took a break, she approached the director and told him about the situation.

She was then rushed to hospital where her bone and tendon were reattached with a plate and screws. She said she decided to return to the set the next day and finished up her scene before heading home to recover.

"Modern medicine amazes me," Rousey shared as she revealed that she had "50% range of motion back in 3 days. There’s so much more than I can write here, stayed tuned via @rondarouseydotcom for the full story. And of course tune in to see how well I can act like my finger didn’t just fall off in this upcoming season of @911onfox," she said in her post.

As reported by Deadline, she will star as firefighter Lena Bosko in the third season of the show.
