Rod Stewart and his son Sean Stewart have been charged with criminal battery over an incident that occurred on New Year's Eve at a hotel according to reports. TMZ quoted the police report and said that Rod, his son Sean and other members of the Stewart family were celebrating New Year's Eve at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, where a security person named Jessie Dixon was shoved backward by Sean and Rod then joined in to throw a punch after Dixon tried to stop them from entering an area which was reserved.

Dixon reportedly told the police that he noticed a group trying to enter an area that was reserved for a private event without authorization. He also said that the group, which reportedly included Rod and his son Sean, got loud and also refused to follow his instructions as he directed them to leave the area.

This was when Sean got nose-to-nose with Dixon and shoved him, after which Rod threw a punch at Dixon, striking him in his left rib cage area. The police report has also noted that there is a video of the incident which clearly shows that Rod and Sean are the "primary aggressors".

Rod apparently spoke to the cops to explain that Dixon got argumentative with his family because of which they were frazzled and apologized. Dixon, however, stated that he would like to press charges and so both Rod and his son have been charged with misdemeanor battery.

The father and son are due to arrive in Palm Beach court on February 5 for their arraignment. So far, neither Rod or his representative has released a statement about the incident.
